Vanity – The Enigma of Existence.

Human life—a tapestry woven with threads of mystery, purpose, and fleeting moments. On this personal journey, I oscillate between introspection and spontaneity, like a pendulum swinging through the corridors of existence. Some days, I question my very being—why I breathe, why I persist. Other days, I glide through routines, a mechanical dance devoid of conscious thought. It’s what I do—I reassure myself.

In this vast expanse, there are moments when life feels arbitrary, devoid of meaning. A mere byproduct of biological processes—a heartbeat, a synapse firing. Yet, there are days when certainty envelops me—an inexplicable knowing that transcends the mundane. A whisper that says, “Look beyond the veil; there lies something more.”

Consider a scorching summer day. Ice cream or a popsicle—the simple pleasures—become our solace. After toil, a hot shower and a cozy bed cradle weary souls. Physical release—the primal urge—sweeps away fatigue. And our children—the universe condensed into tiny forms—they become enough. Successes, too, bring fulfillment, but here’s the paradox: Struggle and pain, those unwelcome guests, lend depth to our victories. Without imperfections, success would be a hollow echo.

Suffering, oddly, becomes a companion. Not because it’s inherently acceptable, but because within its crucible, hope blooms. We glimpse better times on the horizon, and that fragile hope propels us forward. Momentary purpose—a flicker in the dark—guides our steps.

Yet, this undulating rhythm shields us from deeper inquiries. Origin, purpose, destiny—they retreat to the periphery. Technology, our digital armor, guards against solitude. Current events, news, gossip—they fill our mental spaces. Phones charged, we avoid the abyss of introspection. Breaks become escapes—movies, passive scrolling, social media banter. Until sleep claims us, and we awaken to chase momentary purposes—the rent, the bills, the mundane dance of survival.

And so, we pay our dues, our lives reduced to punctual transactions. But perhaps, in those quiet moments—when the hum of the world fades—we can glimpse the enigma. Beyond the rent, beyond the bills, lies the uncharted territory—the realm where purpose intertwines with the ineffable. There, we may find answers or more questions. But for now, we tread the tightrope, balancing between the mundane and the miraculous, hoping that our momentary purposes lead us to something greater.

Career journeys, raising children, taking care of our families all can become our momentary duties but, still, there is a void every human will never fill with this wind chasing.
